We're using 3 or 4 year old Toughbooks (model CF 27, runs Windows
2000) in Ohio. We use a serial to USB connecter, and hook up to the laptop
through the USB port. The com port settings will need to be changed, but
it works better than hooking up to the serial port for us. We were
occasionally losing data when using the serial port.

Howdy, Hi. I am looking at the Tablet PC – convertible configuration of the
Toughbook CF-18. Does anyone have any experience or advice about whether
the Tablet version of Windows XP or XP Pro works better with the serial
port? Specifically communication with a Rio Grande Workhorse ADCP through
the serial port connected by direct cable or by radio modem. Thanks. Jerry,
