[Acoustics] mode use for slow vel

Water mode 5 or 11 should work well. We have done a few comparisons with
mode 5 and 12 SB, and in low velocities (0.3-0.5 m/s, or about 1 ft/s)
and we found mode 12SB results in from 5-8% less discharge compared to
mode 5. Why this happens no one seems to know.

WM 11 should work great if the water is calm (no chop) and there is no
significant shear in the column. I've been using it with good results
at sites with similar depths with velocities up to 1.2 ft/s.

That or WM11 a) if you have it and b) if you keep your boat speed down.

These conditions are ideal for water mode 5.

To all, The conditions are: Channel width 100 to 200 ft. Depth 3 to 7
ft. velocity < .1ft/sec. Used Rio 1200khz water mode 12sb bottom mode 5.
Not sure it was the best combination for those conditions, does anyone
have similar conditions? Which mode combinations would work best for
collecting repeatable transects?
