Hi Keith
Just a thought - could you use a USB/serial converter?
We have used these (admittedly not for this application) with some
success on several laptops that had no serial port. We have run TRDi's
WinRiver software through it with no problems.
I had a PCMCIA/serial card but it seemed a bit flimsy and I found the
USB device more convenient (and cheaper!!)
Cheers, Nick.

We recently purchased a new Rugged Notebook M220 to use with our Sontek
Riversurveyor. It has only one serial port which seems to be the trend
these days. We usually plug our GPS receiver into a second serial port
to get more detailed data when working from a manned boat platform. We
would like to purchase a pcmcia serial card adapter for this laptop.
I thought I'd try to take advantage of everyone's experience with
these. With that in mind, can I get some recommendations on a reliable
one? What have been some pitfalls using these pcmcia cards?
Thanks,
