[Acoustics] Lockup during compass calibration

I just received a call from a crew in the field and one of the Techs
informed me that when trying to complete the compass calibration the
computer would lock up part way through the calibration and the only way
to get out was to restart the computer and then he would have to
complete a revolution with the boat before the calibration program would
stop. When he tried again it did the exact same thing. The test program
worked fine. Any ideas as to what might cause this? A compass cal was
completed the day before using a tethered boat and the same computer
(Itronics GoBook II) and it worked fine.
