dear francois
an internal guidance to conduct adcp measurements is what I want to
write
for this reasoin your procedures are very intersting for me
in fact we work on quite shallow water condition but the water speeds
are not small because on mountainous catchments
for this reason we principally work with Mode12
my dilemma is to get a better feeling of measurement accuracy and how it
is affected from water profiling commands (depth cell sizes, number of
pings per ensamble, ambiguity velocity, etc); on all the papers i read
about working modes i didn't find a simple correlation between this
parameters and why it is raccomended to use one set or another one; for
example I think there should be a limit of number of pings per ensamble
depending on the depth of the cell size.
Another question is about the lower limit of water depth I can measure;
it should depend first on the blank (WF25 for example) than on bin size
(WS25 for example) so I've a range to the first cell of 0.50m. The
profiling range given in this context for mode 5 is 0.9m - 7.0m (why?).
Maybe You can help me a little, even if you still made it sending me
your procedures
thank you very much
regards from italy
roberto
