Hi Andrew,

We are using SW's with Ice Detection (in SDI-12 mode) in Northern Quebec
(Canada).  Most of the rivers are ice covered (Ice Count around 200, and
water temperature close to 0).
We have Version 11.0 installed and have some intermittent problems.  We
have -1 stages and End Cell values jumping around in half of our rivers.
In some cases, these problems are permanent... In others it goes on and
off.

Our research group tested a beta release (Version 11.2, is this the one
you tested too?), who seems to have solved most of the problems in
RS-232 mode (less -1 stages and a more stable End Cell).  If you tested
this version in SDI-12 and have had poor results please let me know!

The public version of this upgrade (11.3) should be released soon by
Sontek and we will start upgrading within the next month...  Hopefully,
it will solve the problems before freshet...

Hi,

I am using an argonaut SW and the stage sensor goes bad (it kicks out
-1.00) everytime the water temperature approaches freezing.  When I'm
actually at the site and I run the continuous level command it gives me
bad readings for a few minutes and then it starts to give me the correct
level. However, as soon as I leave it in SDI mode it will only give me
-1.00 again. I do have the sensor set for ice detection, but the same
problem occurred with this function turned off. Sontek did give me a
firmware update, but it did not seem to help much. Has anyone had any
similar problems with the SW?
