Yes we use bluetooth modems on regular basis and they often work good for up to 2-250 meters.

Has anyone used a bluetooth serial radio to connect their laptop to a Rio? These things can transmit up to 100 meters. If your only using one
  com port, using these radios could be pretty easy. I'd appeciate any feedback.
