Randy,

Today, a colleague from our Manaus office sent the raw data and config
files of some measurements made in last november,1. It is available at CPRM
FTP area in the folder /ftpcprm/ADCP/Porto Velho with the others uploaded
earlier. (ftp://ftpcprm:ftpcprm@ftp.cprm.gov.br).
There was no bad ensembles and bad bins were around 1%. They used single
pings ensembles and configuration wizard commands and increased bottom pings
to 2 (BP2) as suggested by RDI field service. The 600 kHz WH Monitor
firmware was updated recently to version 16.27. Standard Dev./Average
calculated by WinRiver and showed at Discharge History Tabular View was only
0.01. Mean discharge = 7.300 m3/s and max. velocity 1,5 m. Please, see some
screen capture contained in pdf file comparing intensity, backscatter and
velocity plots between measurements made in february and november/2005..

Measuments made with a 600 kHz Rio Grande, firmware 10.14, in february max.
velocity almost doubled and mean discharge was around 26.000 m3/s (?).
That´s when bottom tracking begin to fail.

Pedro Moreira
