Earlier this month, the USGS Office of Surface Water announced the
schedule for hydroacoustics training for 2006 (see
http://hydroacoustics.usgs.gov/training/schedule_2004.html ). This
email is a reminder that enrollment for classes being held in October
and November should be completed soon.

The training class, Streamflow Measurements using ADCPs, will be held
from October 17-21, 2005 in Louisville, KY. If there is sufficient
interest, this class will cover ADCPs made by RD Instruments and
SonTek/YSI. At present, 8 persons from USGS and 4 from other
agencies have been nominated for the class. A minimum of 12 USGS
personnel are required in order for the class to be
held. Nominations should be completed by September 28. In order to
nominate someone to attend the class, please go to
http://simon.er.usgs.gov/cgi-bin/rgs/index.cgi?session_id=76&to=register.
If you have questions about this class, please contact David Mueller
via email (dmueller at usgs.gov) or phone (502-493-1935).

The training class, ADCP Refresher and StreamPro Data Collection and
Review will be held from November 7-10, 2005 in Raleigh, NC. A
minimum of 12 USGS personnel are required in order for the class to
be held. Nominations should be completed by October 14. In order to
nominate someone to attend the class, please go to
http://simon.er.usgs.gov/cgi-bin/rgs/index.cgi?session_id=77&to=register.
If you have questions about this class, please contact Kevin Oberg
via email (kaoberg at usgs.gov) or phone (217-344-0037 x.3004)

In addition, please refer to the general announcement concerning 2006
hydroacoustics training at
http://simon.er.usgs.gov/pipermail/acoustics/2005q3/001741.html.
Please remember that entering an individual in the USGS NTC Training
Management System (TMS) DOES NOT nominate them for these classes. You
MUST follow the instructions in the email at
http://simon.er.usgs.gov/pipermail/acoustics/2005q3/001741.html to
nominate students for these classes. Likewise, nominating someone for
this class using these instructions DOES NOT enter them into
TMS. Once you have completed the nomination via the hydroacoustics
pages, you also need to enter the course into TMS, as TMS is the
official process for obligating and recording all individual and
group USGS training.
