Dear Chris,
We have an in-house developed software that uses ASCII files to plot the
information that you requested (cross-sectional x,z data sets). The software
is Windows based, making it user-friendly.
In addition to the RDI WinRiver outputs, the software extracts the following
data for stationary and transect measurements.
- for stationary measurements: mean velocity profiles and stability analysis
- for transect measurements: channel cross-section, cross-section velocity
profiles over bins, vertical velocity profile at individual pings, spatial
averaging of consecutive pings for predetermined spacing
We are working toward plotting the above information in 3D.
The software can replace the 1/6 power law (used by RDI for extrapolation)
with log law and other power laws in the discharge calculation routine.
IF you wish, please send some ASCII files for providing back some sample
results.

Subject: [Acoustics] ascii output
I have a request to process RDI adcp measurments into simple
cross-sectional x,z data sets for the purpose of looking at channel bed
changes over time, i.e they don't care about velocity information. Is
anyone aware of a macro in Excel or any other program that can pick out
this information from the ascii files? Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
