[Acoustics] Sontek - Nortek interference

Liz,

Those are close enough in frequency and both are narrow-band systems that I
would expect to see interference. The only way to know for sure is to mount
them both and ping one of them and listen with the other one to see how much
signal is picked up by the other unit. You could also ping one at a time and
record the signal to noise ratios and then ping both of them and do the
same. I know how to make an RDI unit listen without sending a pulse but I
don't know how to do that for a Nortek and Sontek unit. I would suggest
contacting the manufacturers.

Subject: [Acoustics] Sontek - Nortek interference

Hello All,

We are doing a comparison between a 2 Mhz Nortek unit and a 1.5 Mhz Sontek
unit. If they are put on the same mount and measure at the same time will
the acoustic signals interfere with each other? For this experiment it is
not possible to have them measure at different times due to the tidal like
conditions at the site.

Thank you for any comments

LIZ
