[Acoustics] Looking for reports and papers in different index-velocity
rating procedures

Some of the HAWG members have published reports on index velocity rating
development. One that comes to mind readily is "Feasibility of Acoustic
Doppler Velocity Meters for the Production of Discharge Records from U.S.
Geological Survey Streamflow-Gaging Stations" by Morlock , Nguyen, and
Ross. I've also published a paper on index velocity measurement error
that I would be happy to send you (although it doesn't specifically
address side-looking Doppler flow meters). Rating development is much the
same for UVM systems, side-lookers, as well as up-looker deployments.
We have been producing record from many USGS streamflow measurement sites
(using the equipment you describe) for several years now. The techniques
are fairly well established. Sometimes a visit can more helpful if one
wishes to fully understand the art of equipment selection, site
reconnaissance, and the discharge measurement equipment that is necessary
to provide the data quality needed for proper calibration of Doppler index
velocity equipment. If you would like to visit our office (and perhaps
some of our sites) or see how we develop index velocity ratings in
northern California, please give me a call.

Subject: [Acoustics] Looking for reports and papers in different index-velocity
rating procedures
I hope some of the list members can point me to some reports or papers
on different index-velocity rating procedures.
I have a copy of the USGS Water-Resources Investigations Report 01-4157
that describes the development and application of multiple regression
equation. Any other information anyone has would be appreciated. It can
be emailed to my email address below.
I am particularly interested in documented cases of the SonTek Argonaut
SL.
Thank
Beau
